U.S. stocks book solid gains on optimism over U.S.-China trade talks
U.S. stocks pushed higher on Monday after reports senior Chinese officials attended trade negotiations with the U.S., seen potentially increasing the prospects of a deal between the two countries. The two sides are trying to hash out a deal before the 90-day trade truce ends. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.42% finished up around 100 points, or 0.4%, the S&P 500 SPX, +0.70% closed up 0.7% and the Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, +1.26% ended Monday up 1.3%.
