Er fiel am 6. August 2023, nachdem Fitch die USA auf AA+ herabgestuft hatte. Seit der Herabstufung durch S&P am 5. August 2011 wurde die USA mit AA+ „gesplittet“. (Moody's behielt sein Aaa-Rating bis zum 16. Mai 2025 bei).
Indexanbieter wie Bloomberg begannen im August 2023, dieses neue Split-Rating AA+ zu berücksichtigen.
Die Herabstufung durch Moody's hat das US-Rating nicht verändert. Es wurde lediglich an das bereits bestehende Rating angepasst.

Bei den verbleibenden AAA-Schulden in Höhe von fast 9 Billionen Dollar handelt es sich hauptsächlich um hypothekarisch gesicherte Wertpapiere (MBS), Agenturen (Fannie/Freddie), supranationale Organisationen (IBRD, EIB) und eine sehr kleine Handvoll Unternehmen (wie Microsoft und Johnson & Johnson).
Zu Ihrer Information: Apple hat ein AA+-Rating, genau wie die USA.
