Costco Stock Might Be a Good Buy After 2018’s Pullback

...

The company’s renewal rate is over 90%, rising slightly over the past year even after the company raised its membership fee in the middle of 2017. Income from the fee accounts for just over 2% of Costco ’s revenue, but it’s growing at a strong clip, up 9.5% year over year in the first quarter.

And yet the stock has been in a mini-slump since September, falling 14% from its 52-week high of $245.16 to a recent $209.60. Shares trade at 26 times the company’s expected earnings, about in line with historical trends. Bullish analysts like Cowen’s Oliver Chen see the stock rising near its prior high, returning more than 15% including a small dividend payout.

Costco Smashes Q2 Earnings Estimate, Falls Light on Revenue

Costco Wholesale posted much stronger-than-expected second quarter earnings Thursday but missed Street revenue estimates even as same-store sales over the holiday period were solid.

...

Costco said earnings for the three months ending on February 17 came in at $2.01 per share, up nearly 27% from the same period and well ahead of the Street consensus forecast of$1.69 per share. Total group revenues, Costco said, rose 7.3% to $35.4 billion but missed analysts' estimates of $35.65 billion. Costco also reported February sales of $10.72 billion, up 5% from last year, or 4.6% on a like-for-like basis, the company said.

Same stores sales for the quarter, excluding fuel and foreign exchange moves, rose 6.7%, Costco said, firmly ahead of the 5.7% consensus estimate. Comparable sales in the US jumped 7.2%, again topping the 6.7% estimate.

RE: Costco Wholesale

Dunce-cap

Meet Yahoo Finance's 2022 Company of the Year: Costco
Brian Sozzi·Anchor, Editor-at-Large
Mon, December 5, 2022 at 6:01 AM

In a year of rampant inflation—not seen since the early 1980s—Costco (COST) was a warm hug to millions of loyal members by keeping prices for everything from food to gasoline as low as possible, just as rivals were aggressively jacking up prices.

It also provided a warm hug to its fans on Wall Street, producing stellar results from sizable same-store sales increases to its stock price, which got the best of the S&P 500 (^GSPC) index. Not to mention its sales of $222.7 billion in the fiscal year ended October, up a whopping 16 percent.

For that and more—including Costco's continued status as one of the nation's best employers—we named the Issaquah, Washington–based warehouse behemoth our 2022 Company of the Year.

If there were one company that could say rising prices weren't a negative, it was Costco. The Great Inflationary Outbreak of 2022 placed Costco's 842 worldwide stores squarely under the spotlight, offering up yet another opportunity for the 39-year-old retailer to showcase, to investors and members, its low-price leadership chops.............
