Medtronic reports Q2 profit, revenue beats

Medtronic PLC MDT, +1.98% reported second-quarter profit and revenue beats early Tuesday, but also said it has taken hits from foreign exchange rates and projected China tariffs. Company shares slumped 0.2% in premarket trade. Earnings for the latest quarter declined to $1.115 billion, or 82 cents per share, from $2.017 billion, or $1.48 per share in the year-earlier period. Adjusted earnings-per-share were $1.22, above the FactSet consensus of $1.15. Revenue rose to $7.481 billion from $7.050 billion, above the FactSet consensus of $7.348 billion.

wir kennen alle die Gefahr, in die man sich begibt, wenn man den Namen des Bösen ausspricht, also Lord Volde****. Ähnlich ist es mit der Nennung einer bestimmter Webseite Eek

Aber gerade auf dieser Webseite hat vor ein paar Tagen ein bekannter User von einer ungewöhnlichen Besteuerung geschrieben. Die sei höher als der übliche 15% Sofort-Abzug. 

Die Aktie interessiert mich, deshalb ein Check auf der Investor Relations-Seite: tatsächlich gibt es einen Sofort-Abzug von 20%!

Das Unternehmen wird in Deutschland, der Schweiz, England und in den USA an der NYSE gehandelt. Es gibt Sonderregelungen "Exemptions" bei der Irischen Besteuerung. Bei manchen ADRs gibt es keinen Steuerabzug! Leider hat Medtronic in den jeweiligen Ländern nur Namens-Stammaktien, konnte jedenfalls keine ADRs auf MDT finden.

US-Staatsbürger können nur bei voller Legitimation von der Irischen Steuer (DWT Dividend Withholding Tax) ausgenommen werden, allerdings gegen eine gewisse Gebühr (US$ 149,99) und heftigen Auflagen. 

Theoretisch ist man als Deutscher oder Österreicher (sind beide im "relevant territory", aber sorry, man muss EU-Bürger sein) von der Irischen Steuer DWT befreit (Irland hat Doppelbesteuerungsabkommen mit beiden Ländern). Aber egal, ob der Steuerabzug in Irland oder Deutschland stattfindet, das Geld ist weg.

Genau das war auch der Grund, warum ich das Unternehmen trotzdem ich es eigentlich auch nicht schlecht finde nach einem

Medtronic Reports Strong Surgical Product Sales on Way to Earnings Beat

Medtronic raises its full-year earnings forecast above analysts' estimates.

The company reported revenue of $2.12 billion, thanks in part to higher sales in its surgical products and restorative therapies divisions, topping analysts' expectations of $2.08 billion. Earnings of $1.29 per cents per share also came in ahead of analyst guidance by a nickel. 

The company said that it expects full-year earnings to be in the range of $5.14 and $5.16 per share, up from its previous forecast between $5.10 and $5.15 per share. Analysts are expecting company to report earnings of $5.12 per share.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of 6.78%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this medical device company would post earnings of $1.46 per share when it actually produced earnings of $1.54, delivering a surprise of 5.48%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates four times.

Medtronic (MDT) Q3 Earnings Top Estimates, Revenues Miss

Medtronic plc MDT has reported third-quarter fiscal 2020 adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.44, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 4.3%. Adjusted earnings also rose 11.6% year over year.

Without certain one-time adjustments — including restructuring, amortization expenses and certain litigation charges — GAAP EPS was $1.42, reflecting a 51.1% rise from the year-ago reported figure.

Total Revenues

Worldwide revenues in the reported quarter grossed $7.71 billion, up 2.6% on an organic basis (excluding the impacts of currency and significant acquisitions, including Titan Spine) and up 2.3% on a reported basis. The top line missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by a marginal 1.2%.
