Electronic Arts stocks falls 10% after revenue miss 

Electronic Arts Inc. EA, -13.62% shares plunged roughly 10% in the extended session Tuesday after the company missed sales expectations. The company reported fiscal third-quarter net income of $262 million, or 86 cents a share, compared with losses of $186 million, or 60 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted for items such as stock-based compensation, earnings were $2.30 a share. Revenue rose to $1.29 billion from $1.16 billion in the year-ago period; EA reported net bookings fell to $1.61 billion from $1.97 billion in the year-ago period.

Electronic Arts hatte es zum Ende des vorigen Jahres nicht leicht und die Kurse der Aktie gingen nach unten.
Der Wert des Unternehmens hatte sich seit Mitte 2018 zwischenzeitlich halbiert und erfolgsverwöhnte Aktionäre
sahen in diesem Zeitraum ein ganz anderes Gesicht des Wertpapiers. Immerhin konnten sich die Kurse
in den letzten fünf Jahren nahezu verzehnfachen und jede noch so kleine Korrektur bot meist eine
attraktive Einstiegsgelegenheit.
Davon war im  letzten Quartal 2018 nichts zu sehen. Erst im Januar meldeten sich die Bullen wieder zurück und
übernahmen in gewohnter Manier das Zepter. Die jüngsten Quartalsergebnisse waren zwar schlechter als erwartet,
brachten jedoch in Folge die heiß ersehnte Wende. Der Widerstand bei 93 USD konnte gebrochen werden und
wurde in den letzten Wochen zu einer wichtigen Unterstützungsebene im Chart. Der Trend ist aktuell wieder bullisch.

EA revenue beats estimates, first-quarter forecast falls short

May 7 (Reuters) - Electronic Arts Inc posted better-than-expected quarterly revenue on Tuesday, riding on the strength of its latest battle royale sensation, "Apex Legends", but its sales forecast for the current quarter fell short of estimates.

EA said it expects first-quarter adjusted revenue of $690 million, well below analysts' estimates of $807.8 million. Its full-year adjusted revenue forecast of $5.10 billion was also below estimates of $5.16 billion.

On an adjusted basis, EA's fourth-quarter revenue was $1.36 billion, beating estimates of $1.20 billion, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.

The company's net income fell to $209 million, or 69 cents per share, in the fourth quarter ended March 31 from $607 million, or $1.95 per share, a year earlier. (Reporting by Arjun Panchadar in Bengaluru)

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of 10.71%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this video game maker would post earnings of $0.85 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.96, delivering a surprise of 12.94%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates three times.

Electronic Arts, which belongs to the Zacks Toys - Games - Hobbies industry, posted revenues of $1.98 billion for the quarter ended December 2019, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 0.71%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $1.61 billion.
